The NREGA Job Card (नरेगा जॉब कार्ड) is an official document issued under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Your Gram Panchayat issues this card to every registered rural household, giving them a legal right to demand 100 days of paid employment every financial year.
The scheme started on 2 February 2006 as NREGA across 200 backward districts. By 2008, it covered all of India. In 2009, it was renamed MGNREGA in honour of Mahatma Gandhi. People also call it man nrega, narega, mg nrega. In Maharashtra, same scheme runs as Rojgar Hami Yojana.
Major Update (Dec 2025): Parliament passed the VB-G RAM G Act, 2025 (Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission) which formally replaces MGNREGA. MGNREGA wages arrive through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) — directly into bank or post office account within 15 days. For FY 2025-26, daily wages range between Rs. 234 and Rs. 374 depending on state. Delayed payments entitle compensation under Section 3(3).
The register on nrega.nic.in shows colour-coded names: Green = employment received, Gray = active card, Yellow = photo needed.

VB-G RAM G Act 2025 — MGNREGA का नया अवतार
